In our work with communities, leadership teams and planning committees we commit to the following:
- Deepening the group’s awareness of, and working out of, a value-base:
- Non-Violence
- Mutual Responsibility & Accountability
- Collaboration & Partnership
- Integration and Depth
- Proactive Decision-Making
- Assisting groups to plan and accomplish their goals
- Ensure that conversations and processes are held in a frame of reference – a context – with continuity over time
- Foster a climate of safety (e.g., freedom to make mistakes)
- Helping groups “work through” conflicts directly through dialogue
- Assisting groups in articulating and incorporating “emergent” understandings from the dialogue (i.e., incorporating the “new” with the “old”)
- Integrating pieces of the planning process and weaving them into a whole
- Assisting a group in staying on track (i.e., focused)
- Encouraging depth of dialogue (e.g., staying in the struggle)
- Assisting a group in using their best gifts and talents
- Helping a group manage their use of time
- Working with table facilitators and the planning group to honor both the planned processes and goals as well as the emergent realities of the assembly
